Best . Burrito . EVER! Ask for a recommendation of where to eat on Ocracoke Island and it’s likely you’ll get an “oh … and don’t forget the best Mexican food ever, Eduardo’s Taco Stand along the main road going into town, on the left just past the grocery.
But we don’t eat out often, preferring to patronize the local fish markets for fresh fish – the mahi mahi last night was amazing. But friends assured us we can have the best of both worlds at Eduardo’s. So we rode our bikes into the village (about 3 miles from the national park campground along a great bike path), spent the morning learning about pirates (Blackbeard was beheaded here) and the famous Ocracoke Brogue – OK, I hadn’t heard of it until we got here, but it’s an interesting lilt trying to understand the few lifelong residents that remain.
After our tourism morning, we opted for Eduardo’s for lunch — after all, we had a 3 mile bike ride in front of us, so …
FIRE ALERT! This food can be SPICY – I love spicy, but there were so many jalapenos that I had to pick some out to be able to taste the decadence (yes, I said decadence because that’s what any burrito with BACON deserves to be called!).
I had the Shrimp (fresh, just off the boat, of course), Bacon and Jalapeno Burrito. David had a Grilled Fresh Fish Burrito. Both were taste sensations, no doubt about it. We sat on picnic tables behind the roadside stand and feasted until our eyes glazed over and we could eat no more.
If David liked jalapeno peppers, we could have easily split my burrito, but he’s not a jalapeno fan. I picked the jalapenos out of a couple of bites so he could see how tasty my lunch was, but the heat still overwhelmed him.
But if you love spicy … and BACON, there’s no better taste on Ocracoke Island than Eduardo’s Shrimp, Bacon & Jalapeno Burrito. Next time, I may ask Eduardo if he can make mine with half the jalapenos … or better yet, jalapenos on the side. I love jalapenos and spicy but wow!
P.S. Buy extra drinks, you’re going to need them!

Thanks. Gracias
I love the flavors. Sorry if we add some many jalapeños . For us spicy means caliente hot hot but rich in flavors.
Thanks Eduardo – I love your flavors and the fresh ingredients you use & highly recommend everyone to eat at your place. Yum! Thanks for such tasty food and such a great experience. Cheers! Jan
