Being wine enthusiasts, we’ve experimented with lots of wine glasses aboard our cruising sailboat over the past 15 years. For the travel trailer, the options seem to be improving every year. Why visit Chaco Canyon? … 13 miles of rough dirt roads, over 50 miles from the nearest “town”, more like a wide spot in the road… what could possibly be the attraction?

Is it possible to tow a Lance travel trailer to Chaco Culture National Historical Park? 13 miles of “rough dirt road” with the last 4 miles classified as “very rough” by NPS? Impassable when wet or snowing. Sounds like somewhere I had to go!

They said it couldn’t be done. Our experience towing our Lance 1685 (3800 dry weight, just under 5000 loaded) with a 6 cylinder Toyota 4 Runner … 10,000 miles, desert to mountain passes … our “little engine that could” … your experience may vary….

One of most renowned hikes in the world … and also one of the most difficult. Not because the hike itself is difficult, but because the US Park Service is smart enough to realize that hundreds/thousands of feet would quickly destroy these incredible soft sandstone formations.
