What to get for the favorite RVer or Trailer Traveler in your life? Here are some ideas – we don’t recommend things we don’t use (or have friends that use), so these have all been tested either on the sailboat or traveling with our Lance 1685 trailer.
1. Titan Crystal Wine Glasses – if they’re into wine, they’ll appreciate some stemless wine glasses – especially if they’re made of titanium and while not unbreakable, resist breaking. Or if you prefer stemmed wine glasses, there’s an entire selection of Schott Weisel Crystal Titanium wine glasses. Crystal Titanium is not as thin and delicate as lead crystal, but it’s not as heavy as glass – somewhere in between. And it’s been a great choice for us.
2. Govino Unbreakable Wine Glasses – Govino glasses are the perfect “Red Solo Cup” for wine. They don’t break but you can’t wash them in a dishwasher. Since our trailer doesn’t have a dishwasher, it’s not a problem! There’s even a handy little indent for your thumb – very handy if you happen to have just applied sunscreen or bug lotion and have slippery hands. Don’t want to be dropping the wine glass, after all. 🙂
3. Zero Gravity Chairs. We love ours from Bass Pro Shop. They’re so comfortable, especially after a long day of hiking. They recline more than a normal chair, so they’re also great for watching falling stars … or catching an afternoon nap.
4. Show support for your college team by having a couple of extra folding chairs, just in case you have guests, or don’t want to sit in the zero gravity chairs by the campfire. We have Illinois and Indiana, but there’s a selection at Camping World.
5. How about my favorite – Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker … actually we don’t have one of these … yet … it’s been on my Christmas (and birthday) list for the past 2 years, but somehow Santa always misses it. Music on the beach, at the campfire, in the cockpit of our sailboat, anywhere. It has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, compact size and the amazing sound. A friend has one and every time we sit around her firepit with the tunes going, I promise myself that this will be the year we add this to our toys.
6. Doesn’t every campsite need some Mingos? To spruce up our outdoor living area, we really need to add some Mini Mingos – perfect size for hauling around in the trailer, compact, only 13″ tall. (David’s not entirely sure about this one…)
7. “The Boat Galley Cookbook”. OK, so you say, an RV is not a boat! But an RV has the same small galley/kitchen as a boat and realistically, “The Boat Galley Cookbook” concepts apply to anyone with a small kitchen, not just those living on a boat or in an RV. No room for the amazing array of electrical cooking appliances? The Boat Galley Cookbook may be for you. And I’m the co-author, so I should know now that we’re traveling in both our Lance 1685 Travel Trailer and our Passport 37 s/v Winterlude (commutercruiser.com).
8. Oxygenics Shower Head – increase the water pressure and enjoy a better shower! Oxygenics adds oxygen to your shower water, increasing the water pressure and saving water all at the same time! It’s an easy install and a great mod for your shower! Plus it comes in nickel or brushed metallic finish.
9. Oregon Scientific Portable Weather Station. We love our little weather station – it has an outdoor sensor that wirelessly tells the inside until the outside temperature and humidity. It also shows a “forecast” for the next 12 hours. Perfect for planning our day … either in the trailer or on the sailboat – we’re using it both places.
We hope you have a very Merry Christmas and joyous holiday season with family and friends! Cheers! Jan & David
