Summertime and the livin’ is easy…. a pitcher of icy cold sangria makes life at the lake even better. Aly and I whipped this up last year and it was such a hit, it’s become a tradition for our 4th of July weekends….
So easy and so delicious … best have enough for multiple pitchers because everyone who tastes it will want a big glass (red solo cups are an excellent accompaniment if you happen to have lots of people around).
Here’s our quickie recipe, but there are lots of other alternatives … just google white or red sangria recipe to find more choices. Our choices were limited by the size of our pitcher, we just kept making multiple batches – unfortunately it’s best to let the flavors meld for a few hours before enjoying, but we worked with what we had. 🙂
Summertime Chilled Sangria
2-3 oranges
2 lemons
3 limes
2-3 apples
bottle of red blend wine (dry, not sweet)
1/2 cup Gran Marnier (or triple sec or a combination plus some brandy, we just happened to have 2 bottles of Gran Marnier so that’s what went in)
1/2 cup (or more) pineapple juice
1/2 cup (or more) orange juice
Mix all together and allow to chill in the refrigerator to absorb flavors for at least 3-4 hours.
Fill glass 1/2 full of ice cubes, pour in chilled Sprite, fill with Sangria and fruit. ENJOY this refreshing fun alternative to a cold beer on a hot summer day! Can be made in a cooler with a dipper for larger festivities while in the camper.
Yum! What’s your favorite sangria recipe?
