Premium Coolers: Engel vs. Grizzly vs. Pelican vs. Yeti vs. Yukon

We broke down and bought a premium cooler for our new RV lifestyle, despite the marginal results of our Yeti test … which one did we pick? Why? And what other options did we consider?

Soon …. Very Soon!

Time to transition from the boat to the travel trailer.  A time that always causes me heartache — I love living on our boat … but I’m so excited about our new adventures to the national parks in our Lance 1685 travel trailer.  The RV lifestyle is similar to living aboard since we’ll be moving our “house” from neighborhood to neighborhood as we please.  Cannot WAIT! Coming Mid-March … 2.5 months, 5,500 miles, 12 states (+ or -) our “new” Lance 1685 and our old Toyota 4 Runner (please...

National Key Deer Refuge

From a paltry 25 key deer in 1951, these highly endangered “toy” deer have started a comeback, with 1000 today. Unfortunately last year 137 were killed, so they’re not rebounding fast enough to get off the endangered species list.

St George Island State Park Campground

One of our favorite campsites – equaling the amazing on the beach camping in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore – maybe even better!  St George Island State Park is a barrier island park with 60 campsites with electricity, water hookups and a dump station nearby.  The campground is located behind historic dunes in the pine forest – with shade!  There are no ocean or Gulf views, but the campsites are only a quarter mile from the beach. There are two restrooms with hot showers, a playground and nature trails that meander from...

10 Reasons You Need “The Boat Galley Cookbook” in Your RV!

What?  Why in the world would anyone want “The Boat Galley Cookbook” in their RV or travel trailer?  Because, as I’ve discovered (and I’m one of the authors), the kitchen in a travel trailer isn’t all that much different than a boat.  The space is small, there isn’t much room for fancy electrical appliances, there may not be a grocery store 5 minutes away and food storage is also different than at home.    Here are 10 reasons you should think about having “The Boat Galley Cookbook” travel with...
